Overview of the Solomon’s Helping Place Food Pantry

The Helping COMMUNITY Food Pantry

Our mission is to be in partnership with our community to eliminate hunger as a roadblock to social and economic success for individuals and families.

HELPING COMMUNITY IS A PROUD PARTNER OF HUNGER TASK FORCE

THE FOOD PANTRY IS OPEN EVERY THURSDAY FROM 1PM-3PM

IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING A FOOD EMERGENCY, CALL 211

THIS INSTITION IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY PROVIDER!

Here we offer the free choice of fresh fruits and vegetables, meats and clothing to over 1000 people per month. During holidays we help as many families as possible with baskets of food and gifts. Through the outstanding efforts of The Hunger Task Force program we are able to continue our mission of providing free wholesome food to those in need.

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE:

Hello Family and Guests,

Though working in a much scaled down capacity, our pantry continues to serve the community every Thursday from 1-3 pm. We encourage our visitors to remain safe and healthy by doing the following:

- Masks are required.

- Our pantry clients can no longer gather in the stairwell or in the basement to be served.

- Clients are individually severed, And MUST MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING!!!!

These changes are all put into place to limit the size of gatherings that could potentially cause of spread of the COVID-19 virus.

These changes may appear frustrating or overwhelming for some, but our mission is to continue to serve everyone with dignity and in a safe environment.

Thank you.

Hunger Task Forces Closures & Emergency Food

Hunger Task Force continues to plan for and accommodate food pantry and program closures and decreased access to emergency food as a result of health and environmental impact events. Hunger Task Force has created a list of confirmed, trusted sites that continue to provide food safely and reliably.

The map below lists public senior Stockbox sites, school meal sites and outdoor emergency food distribution sites in Milwaukee. Search by zip code in the upper left hand corner to see a list of all the sites in your area. Then, click on individual sites to see details: days and times of service, type of program, etc.

This resource is updated daily. Check with your local community food pantry directly for hours of operation.

It’s planting time! The garden plants are in and we’re expecting a great harvest. Like last year, the pantry garden will supply fresh produce for our clients. I’m looking forward to the fresh greens, tomatoes and okra. In addition, Hunger Task Force has started the distribution of spring vegetables-primarily lettuce to the local pantries. Helping Community will welcome donated produce from local gardens and farmers. If you have produce to share, please contact us through our Facebook page Helping Community Food Pantry or send an email to helpingcommunity3295@gmail.com.

Thank you.

Billie.
