Young Farmer’s Session

The SPLASH Spring Session will focus on learning about plants. Students will help grow, plant, identify, and care for vegetable and native pollinators. We will learn about the benefits of working with nature to develop healthy land, minds, and bodies through hands-on gardening activities, the arts, and plant-based snacks. Students are welcome to sign up for both Spring and Summer SPLASH.

What If?

Come join us for S.P.L.A.S.H. as we refresh this summer while learning about Milwaukee as a Water City. Enjoy the freedom of self-expression through visual art and movement arts as you learn about gardening, nutrition, green infrastructure, Lake Michigan, and Milwaukee rivers. Learn about bike riding, safety, and bike care. Train with riders from Red, Bike & Green-Milwaukee.

Our theme this year is ‘What If?’ This topic will help us imagine how our decisions impact our personal, communal, and planetary lives. For example, how does bike riding increase our health, provide opportunities to make new friends, prevent air, noise, and soil pollution, lower carbon emissions, and bring joy and creativity into our lives? Participants will be fitted for a refurbished bicycle at DreamBikes-Milwaukee and can earn the bike through attendance.

The S.P.L.A.S.H. program’s Saturday curriculum is dynamically designed to offer participants remarkable experiences balanced with time to reflect and express themselves. We hope you will join us.

S.P.L.A.S.H. began in the Summer of 2021, supported by Bader Philanthropies, the Wisconsin Arts Board, the National Endowment for the Arts, and Private Donors. Our theme focuses on Milwaukee as a water-centric city with experiences through the arts, science, environmental studies, and recreation. Watch for special opportunities! We will be starting seedlings, preparing gardens, going on spring hikes, and other activities soon.

We offer thanks to our community supporters. Quality programming costs money. We are still seeking funding. If you wish to contribute, please send checks to Solomon Community Temple, UMC, and please include a note that the funds are for S.P.L.A.S.H. We are actively fundraising and are on our way. We have applied for grants from Bader Philanthropies and the Wisconsin Arts Board, who have previously supported S.P.L.A.S.H. Registration, and more Details are Coming Soon! S.P.L.A.S.H. has room for 24 participants. Volunteers Welcome!
